中国小孩学中文比美国小孩学英语更难吗？

1.No.English is about 20,000 distinct random spellings.Chinese is about 3,000 distinct  ideographs.English spelling is too complicated that makes it hard to remember.a Chinese child can read a book after grade 3 in primary school. Chinese words are mainly made by about three thousands of characters. these characters are not alphabet but words and roots. Big words in English can be simply understand without special training in Chinese.Even to simple words like Sunday to Monday, a child would have to learn seven totally different spellings. But in Chinese, it's just 星期+number, no child need to remember the way to write them  specially.

Despite the fact that there are many English words made from existing word and therefore you can guess its mean at first sight, the majority of English words have nothing to do with other words and you have no clue what it means until you are told. On the other hand, each Chinese character can be seen as a prefix or suffix as well as it original meaning. Therefore the majority of Chinese "words" can be easily guessed even you have not seen it again. Therefore learning and recognizing new Chinese word is much easier then English one.
